After a nearly week-long saga, Conservative British MP Neil Parish was forced to announce his resignation after watching, he claims, inadvertently and inadvertently, a pornographic video during a House plenary debate.
Parish, 65, has watched blatant videos at least twice through his cell phone.
He claims the first time he was unaware that the video was on his cell phone before it went live, and the second time he claimed to have watched the video because of "a moment of madness."
The revelation about his exploits erupted last week after two MPs from his party, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative Party, complained about it to the parliamentary ethics committee.
Which opened an internal investigation into the conduct of the Member of Parliament, who is also responsible for a number of important roles as chairman of various committees.
At first he fortified his position that there was no reason to resign, but as stated over the weekend he announced that in light of the severe resentment against him and the “damage” the affair caused to his family and his constituency, he was forced to resign.
"I thought I could explain to the ethics committee what happened but in the end I came to the conclusion that the public outrage and damage done to my family and constituency made this way unjustified in terms of price," he explained to the BBC on Saturday.
"Actually the situation is pretty ridiculous, because I was looking for a site on tractors but came across another site, with a name similar to the site I was looking for, and there I watched a short [pornographic] video even though I did not have to."
He said, "My biggest crime is that in the second case you waited for a vote in the plenum and I spent the time [intentionally] watching the video ... it was a moment of madness and I was completely wrong."
