A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of animal abuse • "This is medical treatment, he suffered, this is how they are treated in Eritrea", his lawyer claimed

Unimaginable cruelty:

Yesterday (Monday) at night a 29-year-old man was seen walking with a dog with both ears cut and bleeding.

Passers-by called the police and when police arrived at the scene, they met the man and noticed the bleeding dog from his ears.

The policemen asked what had happened, and he told them that he had cut the dog's ears and even opened the drawer in his house and showed them the pair of cut ears.

The police arrested the suspect at the station and this afternoon he was brought to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for an extended detention.

"I do not know how to set up the case other than a horrible case," said the arresting officer in the court, Sergeant Moshe Piestro.

If it was a man then they would hear him screaming in pain, the cops stopped him when he came back with the dog from the walk.

During the interrogation he claimed that the dog understood him.

He has a history of violence against a spouse. "

Defense counsel asked the court to release him to his home and argued that there was no danger posed by the suspect's actions.

"There is a clear version of the suspect. The dog was injured, he says that is how they are treated in their country of origin, Eritrea. This is not the first time he has treated this way, he did the same in Eritrea. He gave medical treatment to an animal that suffered. "At the same time, there is a suspect here who provides an explanation. Even with the explanation does not provide and my friend says that if it was a person. But I say it is not a person, it is a dog, and it is significant regarding arrest and danger," the defense attorney said.

All in all, Judge Or Mammon ordered that the suspect's detention be extended by three days when he ruled that the suspect's actions were indeed dangerous.

"Although these are actions taken against a dog, in my opinion these are acts that indicate danger that is not negligible when the suspect's logic indicates danger both to animals but also perhaps to others," Judge Mammon wrote in his decision.
