The rise of the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz in the world of tennis has been meteoric.

And the most recent test of him was his championship on Sunday at the Masters 1000 in Madrid, after beating Alexander Zverev 6-3 6-1 in the final.

Alcaraz's feat not only has to do with his victory against Zverev, who was the defending champion of the Madrid Open and ranked number 3 in the world;

or with the fact that in this same tournament he had previously beaten his compatriot Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, two of the best players in history, on consecutive days.

His road to world success, rather, has been marked by all the work the youngster has put in in the 2022 ATP season.

So far this year, Alcaraz, just 19 years old, has won four titles, of which two are Masters 1000. Before these championships, the young Spaniard had only one trophy as an ATP professional, which he achieved in 2021 .

"The Spaniard leads the ATP Tour with 28 wins this season, one victory above Stefanos Tsitsipas. His four titles are also the circuit record (in 2022), above Nadal and Rublev, with three cups each" , says the tennis association on its website.

Alcaraz has also achieved other records this year.

Among them, becoming the youngest player to reach the top 10 in the world since Rafael Nadal in 2005, this after winning in Madrid and climbing to 6th place in the ranking.
