The Nuremberg Police Inspectorate was able to welcome a very special guest at the end of May: a young kestrel had flown in through a window.

Nuremberg – A young kestrel seems to be aiming for a career with the police in Nuremberg: On Saturday, May 21, the young falcon flew to the window of the Nuremberg-Mitte police station.

And probably wanted to stay there for the time being, a spokesman for the police headquarters reported on Wednesday.

Kestrel flies in Nuremberg police inspection and stays

The kestrel had landed right in front of an officer's feet.

The policeman immediately opened the windows and doors so that the young animal could fly out again – but the kestrels didn’t really seem to care.

Apparently he wanted to stay at the police station in Nuremberg for the time being.

Perhaps it was the young kestrel's first attempts to fly, the police spokesman suspects.

Whether it was a fervent career aspiration or tired from the first flight – the official “bravely” finally grabbed it and brought the bird outside.

The falcon said goodbye to the officer with a prick in his thumb, the report said.

Kestrel in police inspection: Facebook post becomes a hit

The falcon was not ringed, the spokesman explained in conclusion - therefore it is not a question of a falcon from Nuremberg Castle.

The Central Franconia police posted a post on Facebook about the incident – which became a hit in no time at all.

Within a short time, the post received hundreds of likes and numerous happy reactions from users of the social media platform.

Compared to the more dramatic news of the last week, such as the large-scale police operation at a school in Erlangen or the search for an armed man in downtown Nuremberg, a nice story for a change.
