The organization appealed to the public committee to determine salaries and payments to Knesset members and demanded measures to deter legislators.

"Many members of the Knesset do not do their job, this is a sad reality": The Movement for Quality of Government appealed to the public committee to determine salaries and payments to MKs, asking it to recommend the denial of salaries and payments from MKs absent from Knesset committees and meetings.

Since the formation of the government, the Likud has refused to include permanent members of Knesset committees, with the exception of individual Knesset members.

The move stems from a protest over the lack of adequate representation established by the coalition in the majority relations in committees between the coalition and the opposition.

The movement noted in its appeal that the committee may discuss this issue, and that the Knesset committee is obligated to discuss its recommendations within 30 days.

"Since the inauguration of the Knesset, some Knesset members have not performed their duties and are regularly absent from Knesset committee meetings and even Knesset meetings. In other words, there are many Knesset members who do not appear for Knesset committee discussions - and are actually promoted in their positions and work in the Mishkan."

"In the absence of an ethics committee in the current Knesset, there are no tools available to deny salaries and other payments to MKs.

Hence there is a necessity for such a recommendation on behalf of the Public Committee.

"Moreover, the work of the Knesset committees is of public and governmental importance, and the absence of some members of the Knesset on a regular and prolonged basis is a disregard for the public and the Knesset, and in fact a robbery of public trust," they added.

The appeal also reads: "The reality today is particularly bleak. Some Knesset members receive far-reaching salaries and benefits, but instead do not work in the Knesset and do not perform their public work. .

The appeal was made to the committee's chairman, Prof. Yuval Elbashan, and to its members, Prof. Yoram Eden and Dr. Keren Bar-Hava.
