A 30-year-old resident of Kiryat Yam, known to the police, was arrested this morning (Friday) by Zevulun police on suspicion of assaulting three people on Tuesday and even hospitalizing one of them in a neurosurgical ward at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, with a skull fracture and fear of concussion and internal hemorrhage. At the hospital he was treated and stitched up, feeling pain and close supervision.

The attack took place last Tuesday before noon.

A 76-year-old resident of Kiryat Yam, Nissim Shaked, a pensioner from the refineries, a father of four children and a grandfather of 13 grandchildren, went down to get some air in one of his favorite corners and sat down on his regular bench on Zalman Shazar Street, the city's main street. "Why are you doing this to me, I did nothing to you?" He shouted, telling Walla! A 70-year-old woman and her caregiver were then attacked nearby, and the elderly woman needed medical treatment at the hospital.

The elderly man is conscious and communicates with the medical staff and his family members sitting next to him, but still with stitches, painful, weak and traumatized, unfocused and confused.

"I'm shocked," Levy said.

"Today it was my dad. Tomorrow it could be another person, a kid coming back from school."

She added, "I am a native of Kiryat Yam, I love Kiryat Yam and it is so important to me. Now it turns out that everyone around there knows about the danger from this guy."

It appears that the young suspect lives a few hundred meters from the scene of the incident and is attacked by the elderly.

Legal proceedings against him have been suspended in the past due to mental illness, but he was later convicted of offenses, for which he ran prison terms.

In the afternoon, in the Magistrate's Court in Haifa, Judge Ehud Kaplan granted and extended the young man's detention for five days, until next Tuesday, noting that "reviewing the investigation file raises a reasonable suspicion and very high intensity that he committed the offenses attributed to him."

He rejected the public defender's request through attorney Roman Klugerman who petitioned for his release, noting that the dangerous man is getting stronger in light of his past and also in fear of mental illness. Police argued that "such a person who is dangerous to the public should say his name" The name while also stipulating that during the detention period he will be under supervision and brought in for a psychiatric examination.

Deputy Chief of Staff Nir Yonah, commander of the Zevulun station, said that "the police take violence in general and violence against the helpless in particular and therefore we will work to exhaust the investigation as soon as possible in order to bring the suspect to justice."
