The traffic situation on the Pentecost weekend looks rather uncomfortable.

Car travelers have to expect delays and traffic jams on many routes.

The most important things here at a glance.

Munich – The Pentecost weekend is just around the corner.

In Bavaria and some other federal states, the long-awaited Pentecost holidays are finally starting and the rest of Germany can also really enjoy the early summer weather over the long weekend.

Whether it's a seven-hour drive to Italy or a visit to grandparents - the festive season is sure to attract many a traveler onto the streets.

Unfortunately, traffic jams cannot be avoided.

The only question remains – when and where will it get particularly bad?

Traffic situation on Pentecost weekend: risk of traffic jams on Saturday and Monday

After there were already serious traffic jam forecasts for the start of the weekend on Friday afternoon, the situation on Saturday is unlikely to look any better.

As the ADAC reports, there should be extensive traffic disruptions again in the morning.

Things are supposed to be quieter on Pentecost Sunday, but columns of people traveling home should cause delays again on Pentecost Monday.

The Pentecost weekend will be uncomfortable for drivers, because there will be tough traffic jams on many German autobahns.

Traffic situation on Pentecost weekend: increased traffic jams in Bavaria

Especially in the southern areas of Germany, the traffic situation should be rather unpleasant at the weekend.

Those who travel in or through Bavaria should plan a little more time on the busy motorways.

According to ADAC forecasts, the risk of congestion is greatest on the following routes:

  • A9 Munich – Nuremberg – Berlin

  • A95/B2 Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen

  • A99 ring road Munich

If the weekend excursion takes you via the A95/B2, you can take the route through the Oberau tunnel to escape the queues of cars a little.

On other routes, unfortunately, only one thing helps: be patient and wait until the end of the car caravan is reached.

Since the serious train accident near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, there should also be road closures there until the middle of next week.

The A95 in the southern direction is particularly affected.

Some diversions should therefore be set up for travelers.

Traffic situation on the Pentecost weekend: Delays, especially on the journey home

Unfortunately, for many brave holidaymakers who dare to return home at the end of the Pentecost weekend, it is also necessary to wait.

Because, as the ADAC informs, there should be traffic congestion and delays in the Suben (A3), Walserberg (A8) and Kiefersfelden (A93) regions and other Bavarian border areas due to controls.

Those who drive via Kiefersfelden-Kufstein can also look forward to the notorious truck block handling on Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Overall, the worst seems to be over.

Because according to ADAC statistics, the traffic situation is always at its worst on the Friday before Pentecost.

Anyone who has already made their way to vacation can breathe a sigh of relief.

For everyone else, one can only wish that the journey doesn't take too long.

But with good music and blue skies, you should be able to survive that relatively well.
