Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western countries have committed many mistakes against themselves and are looking for someone to blame for these mistakes, and they chose Russia for that.

"Our partners have made many mistakes against themselves and are now looking for someone to blame ... Of course, in this sense, the most suitable candidate for them is Russia," Putin added in an interview today with Russia 1 TV.

Putin indicated that Europe did not listen to Russia's advice to maintain long-term gas contracts concluded with Moscow, indicating that the European Commission adopted a "short-sighted" policy in the energy field.

Putin said that "the Europeans did not listen to our calls to preserve long-term contracts for natural gas and began to abandon them," stressing that this "had a negative impact on the European energy market, as prices rose... and Russia has nothing to do with this matter."

He pointed out that the rise in gas prices led to a rise in fertilizer prices, and many companies became unprofitable and were subjected to bankruptcy, adding: "We were warning about that, and this matter has absolutely nothing to do with the Russian operation in Donbass."

On the other hand, Putin stressed Russia's readiness to ensure the unhindered export of Ukrainian grain through the ports under its control.

"We will guarantee peaceful passage, the safety of approaching these ports, the entry and movement of foreign ships in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea in any direction, and we will not impose any conditions for this," Putin said.

Putin also referred to the possibility of exporting Ukrainian grain from the port of Berdyansk or through the territories of various countries, including Belarus, indicating that this needs to lift the sanctions on Minsk.
