Everywhere she goes in the world, the Syrian academic harpist Rahaf Sheikhani tries to convey the image of the contemporary Syrian man and his culture, stressing in every city she has been a guest that the language of music unites peoples and Syria is part of this sublime human language.
A tour of musical evenings and specialized workshops in several Italian cities is currently being carried out by the harp player at the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus. Rahaf started from the city of Alberobello in southern Italy, that ancient city registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Rahaf's participation came by hosting a musical evening as a soloist at the invitation of the Italian Expermenta Festival, which aims to communicate and exchange cultures between the peoples of the world, during which she presented musical pieces that talk about Syria in traditional and contemporary melodies.
Rahaf performed a piece of music by the Italian composer Grazia Bonazia, written specifically for this occasion, entitled Zenobia, the Queen of Palmyra.
Rahaf's second stop was in northern Italy in Sarsina through her participation in the Italian National Day through a "Solo" ceremony held in the city's church, during which she presented a diverse program of international authors.
The third leg of Rahaf's tour will be in Cesena to present a specialized workshop for students of the city's conservatory, in cooperation with the Erasmus program, which deals with the exchange of students in the field of education, training, youth and sports, to conclude her tour with a musical evening at the Cesena Conservatoire.
In a statement to SANA, Rahaf confirmed that she is trying, in every station she makes, to convey the image of the contemporary Syrian man, his culture, and the will and cultural diversity that he possesses, through which he can get out of all the ordeals he is exposed to.
Rahaf also talks about all that Syrian musicians do and their abilities to address the world in its common language, which is music.
It is reported that Rahaf Sheikhani is a teacher of the fugitive instrument and a player in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra. Eastern because it is difficult to apply mechanically.
