Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has expressed his dissatisfaction with the closure of three European countries' airspace in front of the plane of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Belgrade, which resulted in the postponement of the visit, describing it as an attack on his country.

Vucic said in a statement to Serbian radio and television: "I was not surprised by the postponement of Lavrov's visit to the Serbian capital, Belgrade, due to prior attempts to change course when European countries prevented Lavrov's plane from flying. It is natural to express resentment and rejection of attempts to prevent dialogue and strain the atmosphere."

Vucic stressed that these actions are an attack on his country, saying: "For a long time I have not seen such hysteria and a campaign of organized attacks on one small country," noting that the correspondents of many Western media gathered in Belgrade on the eve of Lavrov's visit for the purpose of presenting the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister with a picture Unfavorable to Serbia.

Yesterday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that three European countries closed their airspace to Lavrov's plane bound for Serbia, cutting another channel of communication with Russia, while Grigory Karasin, the head of the International Committee in the Russian Federation Council considered this behavior as an indication of a political inferiority complex.
