- At the end of the first round of legislative elections, the presidential camp is back compared to the Elysian ballot, for the first time since 2002. Is this a failure?

Edouard PHILIPPE.

- In truth, these results must be interpreted with lucidity, humility and caution.

Lucidity first, in view of a situation without precedent since 2002: the re-election of an outgoing president.

This continuity does not create the disruptive effect that usually mobilizes the electorate.

Humility then, because we must respect the choice of the sovereign people.

Finally, be careful, because a two-round election is mainly played out in the second round.

Only five candidates were elected in the first round: there are therefore 572 elections to come.

This week is an important moment for the country.
