Scientists of the Institute of Chemical Solutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences have devised a new method for obtaining the local anesthetic lidocaine.
And the website of Russia Today channel quoted a statement by the Information Office of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as saying in a statement: This method allows determining the crystalline structure of the material in advance, which allows to obtain the form of a drug that can be used to curb coughing, noting that this new method depends on the use of materials in case Intermediate between liquid and gas, which is the technology of supercritical fluids (SCF), and the materials in this case have a low viscosity and a relatively high dissolving capacity.
According to the researchers, the use of SCF technology in the pharmaceutical industry opens up new avenues for creating drugs and drugs of high purity and the ability to control particle size, on which bioavailability and the rate of dissolution in the body depends.
The researchers pointed out that the new lidocaine is characterized by a high degree of purity, low cost and relatively ease of production, and this method will be an environmentally friendly alternative compared to the currently used methods that rely on the use of organic solvents.
