Jorge Toledo, an American citizen who has been detained in Venezuela since 2017 as part of the "Citgo 6," wrote a letter to President Joe Biden last week urging him to do whatever it takes to get him back home after his death. having been unjustly detained for more than five years by the Venezuelan regime.

"I appeal to your humanity, courage and decisive leadership to end this difficult and extreme circumstance," Toledo wrote in a letter reviewed by CNN.

Her letter to Biden was written a day after Brittney Griner, an American basketball star wrongfully detained in Russia, also wrote Biden a letter begging him to do everything he could to get her out of there.

"Mr. President, I believe in you. I trust in your goodness and humanity, and I know that you are compassionate, a man of faith who understands the value of family. Toledo's health has deteriorated due to his years in prison, his family and lawyers said.

The Citgo 6 are made up of 6 former executives of the US-based Venezuelan oil refining company Citgo, convicted of corruption.

In addition to Toledo, the group includes Venezuelan-born US citizens Gustavo Cárdenas, José Luis Zambrano, Tomeu Vadell and Alirio José Zambran, as well as US permanent resident José Ángel Pereira.
