Communities, in the green in 2021, soon asked to restore public finances

Local authorities have seen their financial situation improve significantly, in a context of resumption of economic activity, indicates the Court of Auditors in its report.


The confirmation will not fail to delight the executive, which plans to ask local authorities to participate in the consolidation of public accounts: the finances of local authorities are going well, and this time it is the Court of Auditors that said.

After the local Agence France (AFL) last April, the financial magistrates, in a report published on Monday, indeed affirm that

"after a year 2020 marked by the onset of the health crisis, local authorities have seen their financial situation will improve significantly in 2021, in a context of recovery in economic activity

”.

The deficit of local public administrations (Apul), which amounted to 3.5 billion euros in 2020, is thus limited to 0.6 billion euros in 2021 (- 0.02 point of gross domestic product - GDP ), and remains significantly lower than that of the State (- 5.8 points, - 143.8 billion) and lower than that of Social Security organizations (- 0.7 point, i.e. - 16.9 billion…
