On the leafy "

boulevard

" of Batumi, the coastal promenade of the great Georgian city on the shores of the Black Sea, the old white-red-white Belarusian flag flies proudly.

At each event organized there by the active core of some 20,000 Belarusians who have come for a year and a half to take refuge in Georgia to flee repression in their country, the standard of the Belarusian People's Republic of 1918, brought out in August 2020 by the demonstrators who contested the re-election of President Lukashenko, is carefully hoisted.

".

On Tuesday July 5, a few dozen gathered for the opening of the Belarusian Culture Week on the "

boulevard

", at the foot of these ultra-modern glass towers which today make Batumi a little Dubai of the Caucasus.
