A Canadian research team revealed the secret of preserving its folds for a pharaonic linen cloth that was present in the tomb of Mentuhotep II in Egypt for 4000 years.
Egyptian media reported that the parts of the aforementioned cloth pieces had been brought by Charles Corelli, the first director of the Royal Ontario Museum from Egypt, during his participation in the excavations in the tomb of Mentuhotep II in Deir el-Bahari. The Canadian researchers used seven instruments to examine and analyze linseed tissue: polarized light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, electron scattering X-ray spectrometry, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, thermal gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
The researchers indicated that the seven parts that were examined in the tissue all contained traces of “polysaccharides” from the gum “arabinogalactan”, such as gum arabic or fruit gum, “polyglucoside” and starch. for mummies.
It is noteworthy that “polysaccharide” or “polysaccharide” is one of the types of complex sugars composed of the union of large numbers of monosaccharides and often consists of large molecules that are amorphous, insoluble in water, and do not have a sweet taste.
