An Indian blogger has announced that she is engaged - to herself.

She is only 24 years old and has already decided that she is tired and she stops looking for the one and marries herself in a big traditional ceremony that everyone is invited to.

Network influencer Kashama Bindu has announced that she will be the first Indian to marry herself in a traditional Hindi ceremony - though lawmakers are not sure her wedding is at all legal.

Bindo announced to all her followers that she was marrying herself on June 11 in a ceremony at a temple in the Indian city of Wadodara.

Indeed this was the case (although following the criticism and fear of the reactions at the venue she moved the wedding to her home) - including henna, a red bridal outfit and a performance of all the rituals customary to the tradition, except for the groom.

The sociology student and digital creator from Gujarat, India, told the local media that she had decided to marry herself out of a "deep act of self-acceptance".

She told Indian news channel NDTV: "I realized I did not need a prince from the legends because I am my own queen. So I decided to marry myself. I will dress like a bride, attend ceremonies, my friends will attend my wedding and then return home instead of going with the groom."

In fact after the ceremony she set out on her own for a two-week luxury honeymoon in Goa.

"A lot of people tell me I'm a bargain," she says, "so I tell them, 'I found myself.'"

Bindo told the BBC: "Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself, to choose the livelihood and lifestyle that will help you grow and flourish into the most alive, beautiful and happy person you can be."

With all good intentions, not everyone is convinced that Bindo's "sologmia" is a new and bold type of relationship - but more of a need for attention.

One tweeted: "You can live with yourself without marrying yourself. You're just looking for attention and playing the game well."

Another wrote: "It looks like a publicity stunt" and another wrote: "Every day this world is getting a little more stupid ...".

Indian lawmakers say the unconventional marriage may not stand the test of time.

Krishnaknat Wakaria, a lawyer in India's Supreme Court, told the Daily Mail that the law required two people to marry - and that "Sologmia" would not be recognized as legitimate in the country.

Her wedding with herself also received a lot of criticism from local stars, when actor Giotti Saksana said he did not understand the term "Sologmia" at all.

"Self-love and feminism I can understand, but it does not make sense. Instead of being alone for the rest of your life, take advantage of the opportunities that come your way to share life. I read somewhere what she said about Sologmia, which is an inspiration to people who can not find love. But I believe the concept "This will never be accepted by the Hindus because according to our scriptures, marriage plays such an important role in people's lives, and to marry yourself and perform all these rituals it just does not make sense."

"We were born 'solo', so why do a lavish wedding just to prove the truth anyway? The actor wondered and asked Kotian.

Two people can be in a relationship, this is acceptable now.

But the ceremonies and traditions are meant to bring two families together, so self-marriage is not really my thing. "
