A resident of Bat Hanina was preparing for the Feast of Sacrifice and accidentally swallowed the hairpin she was holding in her mouth.

In the run-up to the Feast of Sacrifice, a 15-year-old girl swallowed the hijab's hairpin - after two days, with the same girl with the pin embedded in her stomach, the medical staff at Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem managed to rescue her.

"The pin was stuck in her stomach with real danger to her life," said Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

As mentioned, a 15-year-old girl accidentally swallowed the hijab pin while preparing for the Feast of Sacrifice.

B., 15, from Beit Hanina, planned to celebrate the Feast of Sacrifice with her family.

Arranging the hijab on her head, she grabbed between her teeth, the hijab pin suddenly an item from her personal belongings that was lying on her dresser fell, while bending to pick up an inhale and the hijab pin was swallowed straight into the esophagus.

After an hour of waiting at her home she decided to go to the nearest clinic, where she said she was told to wait for a natural exit of the pin.

B. turned around for two days with the pin in her abdomen, during which she began to feel intense pain.

After consulting a doctor, B. was referred to the Department of Pediatrics at Shaare Zedek, where she underwent an evaluation that included essential metrics and an X-ray taken by the staff of the Pediatric X-ray unit under the direction of Dr. Ruth Zitter, and demonstrated the pin inserted into the stomach wall. Performed by Prof. Dan Turner, director of the Institute of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Shaare Zedek Medical Center

Turner said that "thanks to the sophisticated means, the advanced endoscope saves the need for surgery.

On gastroscopy, in a special technique that protects the esophagus when removed with a rubber band, the pin was removed from the abdominal wall through the esophagus, without damaging the stomach and esophagus.

The girl in good condition will be released to her home during the day and will be able to return to the celebrations of the Feast of Sacrifice. '

Prof. Turner added that "the main dangers involved in such cases are irreversible damage to the soft tissues and a life-threatening perforation in the vital organs. Experts assist religious organizations in developing a solution that will help prevent the dangerous phenomenon.

We are glad that in B.'s case the result was good.

We warn again and again, to avoid holding the pin in your teeth, or any tiny foreign object that may be swallowed or inhaled and cause irreversible damage.
