Casey White, the inmate who escaped from an Alabama jail with corrections officer Vicky White, has been charged with murder in her death, according to Lauderdale County Circuit Court documents.
The indictment alleges that Casey White, by committing a first-degree hit-and-run, "caused the death of Vicky White," who authorities say killed herself during a car chase on May 9 after authorities found the couple in Indiana. .

White received the warrant for his arrest Monday at the state prison where he is being held in Bessemer, Alabama, Lauderdale County Prosecutor Chris Connolly said in a news release on Tuesday.
Investigators believe the inmate and corrections officer, who are not related, met in the Lauderdale County Jail and developed a clandestine romantic relationship before planning their escape in April, CNN reported.
The escape triggered an 11-day manhunt that ended in Evansville, Indiana, where Casey and Vicky White led authorities on a high-speed chase before their vehicle crashed.
When authorities got to the car, they discovered that Vicky White had been shot.
She died of a single gunshot wound to the head, and the coroner's office ruled the manner of death a suicide.

Casey White was previously charged with first-degree flight in connection with his jailbreak.
