An investigation by the British Broadcasting Corporation "BBC" revealed that there is evidence that the British Air Force "SAS" killed detainees and unarmed people while it was in Afghanistan ten years ago.

The report pointed out that newly obtained military documents revealed that one combat unit killed 54 people in mysterious circumstances in Helmand Province between 2010 and 2011 and that senior officers did not report the killings and did not disclose the evidence to the military police.

The investigation pointed out that raids were carried out with the aim of killing or capturing Taliban leaders and disrupting bomb-making networks. Civilians were sometimes trapped in those operations and some were shot dead after their arrest amid fears that the death toll was greater than the number of weapons found during some The strikes indicate that SAS soldiers shot unarmed people.

In turn, the British Ministry of Defense tried to evade what was stated in the report and considered that it “moves to unjustified conclusions about allegations that have been fully investigated,” noting that “two independent investigations examined the conduct of British forces in Afghanistan and neither of them found sufficient evidence to prosecute.”

The ministry considered that "the insinuation to the contrary is unacceptable and irresponsible and puts members of the British armed forces at risk, both in the field and in terms of reputation."

British forces have been deployed to Afghanistan since 2001 as part of an international coalition led by NATO, and thousands of British troops have been sent to Helmand province since 2006.

Representative John Healy described the accusations as "extremely disturbing" and urged Defense Secretary Ben Wallace to explain to Parliament what action he would take to verify the accusations.

The last British forces and their NATO allies withdrew from Afghanistan last summer, after nearly 20 years of occupation.
