The giant pandas "An An" and "Jia Jia" were gifts from the Central Government to celebrate the second anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, but Jia Jia passed away in October 2016.

Ocean Park said today (13th) that An An, 35, has suffered from loss of appetite in the past two weeks, so she did not appear at the exhibition hall.

Ocean Park described An An as saying, "I don't have the spirit to meet the fans." Therefore, it appealed to the public to "gather their energy" for An An.

Ocean Park stated that An An, who is 35 years old this year, is equivalent to 105 human years and is the world's longest-lived male giant panda under human care.

But An An has been unable to show up at the exhibition hall for the past two weeks. Ocean Park explained: "It was because the animal care staff found that this 'Century Xiong Rui' had a lack of appetite, so he was not in the mood to meet the fans."

Ocean Park appealed to the public to leave a message on its Facebook to express their blessings to An An, and said: "Let's cheer for An An together, and wait for her to recover soon!"

In 1999, on the second anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the central government presented "Jia Jia" and "An An" to Hong Kong as congratulatory gifts.

Jia Jia, 20 at the time, and An An, 12, set foot in Hong Kong for the first time on March 11, and have since started living in Hong Kong.

Among them, Jiajia's health deteriorated sharply. The Ocean Park veterinarian arranged for her to be euthanized in October 2016. She passed away peacefully at the age of 38 in the residence of "Sichuan Qizhen Museum".
