The reading of the indictment against "Tinder crook" Simon Leviev (Shimon Hayut) and his father in a private criminal proceeding filed by the Leviev family against them was scheduled to take place today (Thursday).

Ten counts in the indictment, ten counts against Simon Leviev and one against his father.

The State Attorney's Office sent a letter before the hearing, in which it asked not to discuss one of the sections, claiming that an investigation is underway around this charge.

In response, the Leviev family's lawyer, Guy Ophir, expressed outrage, in an interview with the media before the hearing, saying: They will also file an indictment. "

The lawyer continued, "The Leviev family filed a complaint with the police five years ago, now two hours before the hearing the prosecution announces that it wants to arrest because it also wants to file an indictment?".

A statement from the State Attorney's Office told the court that "the facts set forth in the ninth indictment are the focus of a criminal investigation against Simon Leviev. In light of this, the state is asking the court not to hear the indictment pending a decision by the prosecution."

At the beginning of the hearing, Leviev's lawyer, Yaki Kahn, claimed that in parallel with this procedure, a fraud investigation has been underway since 2017 regarding other cases, some of which are related to a complaint that is currently being conducted.

The lawyer begged the court to postpone the hearing, following the prosecution's request.

The Leviev family's lawyer attacked: "The police and the State Attorney's Office have been working on the case for five years. This person is the best-known ambassador of the State of Israel and destroys the good name of the plaintiffs and the State of Israel. "There was no need for a civil lawsuit. The prosecutor's office accompanied the defendant and helped him get out of the case."

"The attempt to request a stay of proceedings is an attempt that helps the defendant and is not acceptable to me," Ofir continued.

"Now an hour and a half before a hearing? Why not yesterday? Why not a month ago?".

Finally, the judge decided to adjourn the hearing, scheduled for November 24.

Defense attorneys will be able to submit their claims to the State Attorney's Office until September 22.
