One person was killed and hundreds of families were evacuated by the Moroccan authorities due to the outbreak of remote forest fires in the Larache province in northern Morocco.
"The body of a person with multiple burns was found in one of the fires raging in the Larache region, and 1156 families near the fires were transferred to preserve their safety," Moroccan News Agency quoted local sources in the Larache region as saying in a statement today.
The sources indicated that the firefighting teams, supported by various means and mechanisms of ground and air intervention, continue to work to contain the fires that have raged since last Wednesday and affected large areas of the Larache region.
