(CNN Spanish) ––
The Federal Chamber of Argentina dismissed former president Mauricio Macri and the rest of the defendants in the investigation for the alleged espionage on relatives of the ARA San Juan submarine, according to a copy of the ruling accessed by CNN
According to the opinion, the court considered that no crime was committed, something that Macri's defense always assured.
On December 1, 2021, Macri was prosecuted by Judge Martín Bava on charges of abuse of authority and carrying out intelligence tasks prohibited by Argentine law.
The exmandatario's defense had appealed, and now this higher instance considered that none of Macri's actions exceeded legal permits.
Macri calls the judge who issued his prosecution "absolutely biased" and considers it to be a political persecution
On his Twitter account, Macri assured after the ruling that "the truth won."

CNN communicated with Luis Tagliapietra, father of one of the crew members of the submarine that sank in 2017 and also a plaintiff, who said that the ruling is inconsistent with the law and that they are going to appeal to higher authorities.
