2022-07-16T22:51:14.857Z

A bit of good news: spending time in a pool in the south of the country - significantly cheaper than the center • In contrast to the center and the north, the ticket prices for the various pools are subsidized for residents • Third article in the series

The wave of rising prices in Israel is not missing in almost any area, and the entrance prices to private pools are higher this year.

In a series of articles in "Israel Today" about the prices of entry to the pools published in recent weeks, it emerged that ticket prices rose by about 10% this year, according to Coface Bdi.

In the last article, we examined the entrance prices to the pools in the center of the country and found that the prices range from NIS 50 to NIS 100 for an adult in the middle of the week and NIS 125-70 on Saturday.

The price of a ticket for a child ranges from NIS 50 to NIS 75 in the middle of the week and NIS 125-60 on Saturday.

In the present article we have focused on pools in the south of the country.

An inspection we conducted shows that the prices of entrance tickets to them are subsidized and accessible to city residents.

For example, the prices for an adult in the middle of the week range from NIS 20 to NIS 90 (only one of the pools we examined charges the maximum price, while the entrance prices to the other pools range from NIS 20 to NIS 50).

The price for an adult on Saturday is NIS 60-20, and the price for a child is NIS 60-15 all days of the week).

Those who are not residents of the city will have to pay a very high price, which can be significantly higher than the prices in the center of the country.

For example, the price for an adult in the middle of the week ranges from NIS 35 to NIS 165 (the lowest in Eilat and the highest in Arad).

The price for a child ranges from NIS 35 to NIS 105 for outside guests in the middle of the week and NIS 120-35 for a child on Saturday.

We will positively note the prices available at the municipal pool in Eilat, both for residents and guests.

Nir Oz, chairman of the Swimming Pools, Sports and Recreation Centers Association in Israel, explains such high gaps between outdoor guests and city residents: "Swimming pool and country club management is a very expensive business and with a lot of responsibility for the health and well-being of visitors and swimmers.

"We are required to comply with a variety of laws related to the approval of the opening of the pool, by the Ministry of Health, the police, the Ministry of the Environment, the fire department, MDA, the Ministry of the Interior, the Home Front Command, and other strict laws."

"When it comes to calculating the annual operating costs, or alternatively the costs of the summer pools that open for only 4-5 months," says Oz, "we perform an economic analysis of the overall cost required to operate and manage the pool, including the costs of lifeguards, maintenance workers, Maintenance, cleaning, certified pool operators, water testing in a laboratory approved by the Ministry of Health, office maintenance, landscaping, fixed costs of electricity, water, disinfectants, cleaning materials, etc. Therefore, we plan our income circles on several levels. The audience closest to us, which is the target audience. We market family appointments because it is our existential basis. In general calculation - the entry costs are the lowest.

"Once we meet the target of the number of registrants we are allowed to enter the pool, we no longer allow one-time entry and tickets," Oz adds.

"The second circle is the sale of tickets at a discounted price and in a very limited quantity, depending on the number of pre-registered subscribers. The third circle is the sale of one-time entrance tickets at a higher price and limited in quantity and space available.

"In every business setting in the economy, we try to work with a regular and loyal customer base. There are quite a few customer clubs in almost every industry in the economy, as well as in the swimming pools."
