The Commander of the Internal Security Forces of Hormozgan Province, Brigadier-General Gholam Reza Jafari, announced that the Iranian police seized, during the past week, one ton and 240 kilograms of narcotics in a number of areas inside Hormozgan, in the southeast of the country.
IRNA quoted Jafari as saying in a statement to reporters today, "This achievement was achieved according to the plan adopted by the leadership of the Internal Security Forces with the aim of purifying the drug-incubating areas, which led to the arrest of 63 smugglers and drug users in this province as well."
Earlier this month, Iranian police seized more than 1.5 tons of drugs in the southeastern provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan.
