Ukrainian President Vladimir Zalansky has ordered the dismissal of Attorney General Irina Wendiktova and the head of the General Security Service, Ivan Bakanov, who is one of his childhood friends.
It is not clear what is behind the dramatic move, and whether it stems from a fear of some political rivalry or a move that stems from some security reasons.
Recall over the past few months the Attorney General has been among the most significant figures who have worked to get war criminals on the Russian side to stand trial, even before the Hague Criminal Court, for the massacres they committed on civilians.
Earlier in the morning, it was reported on the politico website that Zalansky was dissatisfied with the General Security Service's advance because spies had been discovered inside it, and wanted to replace it.
Among other things, a person in the organization responsible for one of the important disputes, which operates in front of the Crimean peninsula, has been arrested in recent days.
It also appears that the fall of the city of Kherson at the beginning of the war led to a rupture in relations with the head of the organization.
