Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi reiterated the need to respect Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, pointing out Tehran's continued cooperation with Syria and the development of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in various fields.
During his meeting with Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the Iranian President said that the Iranian side stressed during the meeting of heads of guarantor states of the Astana process in Tehran yesterday the need to refrain from any measures that affect Syria's sovereignty, which will negatively affect all concerned countries, and that the solution to any problems must be through dialogue and respect. Syrian sovereignty, pointing out that the Iranian side also stressed the need for the US forces illegally in Syria to leave, to stop looting Syrian wealth, and to lift unilateral coercive measures against the Syrian people.
For his part, Minister Miqdad indicated Syria's satisfaction with the results of the tripartite summit of the heads of the guarantor states of the Astana process and expressed appreciation for the clear and principled positions taken by Iran towards Syria, especially those expressed during the summit, stressing that cooperation and coordination between the two countries always leads to positive results.
Minister Miqdad also gave a presentation on the latest developments related to Syria, including the situation in northern Syria and aspects related to the humanitarian situation, stressing Syria's determination to continue strengthening its relations with Iran in various fields and increasing joint coordination at various levels.
The meeting was attended from the Iranian side by Dr. Hussein Amir Abdollahian, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Syed Jamshidi, Political Assistant in the Presidency of the Republic, and Muhammad Sadiq Fadli, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department, and from the Syrian side, the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Diop, and Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Executive Support Department and Ihab Hamed from the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
