Ocean Park said it is saddened to announce that An An, the world's oldest male giant panda under the care of humans, passed away today at the age of 35, which is equivalent to 105 years old for humans.

An An's health has gradually deteriorated over the past few weeks, and her appetite has gradually decreased. On July 17, she stopped eating solid food completely and only drank water and electrolyte drinks.

At the same time, its activity has decreased significantly, and the rest time has also increased relatively.

For An An who is old, the available treatment options are limited to reducing her discomfort or nervousness.

Unfortunately, An An's physical condition became very weak and, in human terms, her life was coming to an end.

After consulting the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, veterinarians from Ocean Park and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department reluctantly let An An be euthanized to save her from suffering.

Ocean Park Veterinary Director Ma Boluo conducted the relevant procedures for An An at his residence at the "Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures Pavilion" at 8:40 a.m.

An An and the female giant panda Jia Jia arrived in Hong Kong on March 11, 1999. Jia Jia died in 2016 at the age of 38. She was the world's longest-lived female giant panda under human care.

Ocean Park thanks the state for donating the precious giant panda to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This gift shows the central government's care for the SAR.

Pang Jianyi, Chairman of Ocean Park Corporation, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to take care of An An and Jia Jia over the years. The relevant arrangements have made Ocean Park an important base for giant panda conservation.

An An and Jia Jia, a pair of long-lived giant pandas, have been serving as conservation ambassadors since they entered the Ocean Park in 1999, assisting the park in promoting natural ecology and conservation knowledge.

Pang Jianyi said that An An has grown up with the park, and as an indispensable member of the Ocean Park family, it has established a profound friendship with the general public and visitors from all over the world.

Over the years, An An has brought many happy memories to everyone. We will always miss her smart and mischievous figure. We also thank the animal and veterinary team of the park for guarding An An day and night. I believe that the park visitors will join us in paying our last respects to An An.

Pang Jianyi also pointed out that An An lives longer than ordinary giant pandas, and his life proves Ocean Park's commitment to providing the best care and medical care for giant pandas, as well as the achievements of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center as an important partner of the park for many years.

In the future, Yingying Lele Club, living in the "Giant Panda Journey", will continue to fulfill the mission of An An Jia Jia.

Ocean Park will set up a condolence book on the "Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures Pavilion" and the park's Facebook page for visitors to mourn the beloved animal ambassador.

An An, who is 35 years old this year, is equivalent to 105 human years, and is the world's longest-lived male giant panda under the care of humans.

Ocean Park pointed out a few days ago that An An has suffered from loss of appetite recently and has not been able to show up at the exhibition hall for the past few weeks, and described An An: "I don't have the spirit to meet the fans." "Hong Kong 01" also went to Ocean Park on July 14. In An An's situation, seeing that it was willing to eat bamboo leaves, but it didn't take long, so it just lay on the ground and didn't move.

In 1999, on the second anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the central government presented the giant pandas "Jia Jia" and "An An" to Hong Kong as a congratulatory gift.

Jia Jia, 20 at the time, and An An, 12, set foot in Hong Kong for the first time on March 11, and have since started living in Hong Kong.

Among them, Jiajia’s health deteriorated sharply, and the Ocean Park veterinarian arranged for her to be euthanized in October 2016. She passed away peacefully in her residence at the “Sichuan Qizhen Museum” at the age of 38.

An An and Jia Jia, the first-generation giant pandas living in Hong Kong, have passed away one after another. At present, the remaining giant pandas in Ocean Park, "Ying Ying" and "Le Le", were donated to Hong Kong by the central government in 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their return to China.

The 105-year-old giant panda An An regains his appetite and eats bamboo and drinking water. Ocean Park calls on citizens to renew their breath. Giant panda An An has lost his appetite for two weeks and has not appeared in the Ocean Park at the exhibition hall: let’s cheer up Ocean Park’s collapse crisis | Killing Garden and An Anshengli [Jia Jia passed away] gave birth to 6 children, a total of 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and An Anfei couple [Jia Jia passed away] The ashes were scattered into the soil near the former residence and turned into spring mud to nourish the ginkgo tree Giant panda Jiajia bones and fur preserved For research, raise the remaining cremated ashes to nourish the memorial tree
