Gantz also held an interview this evening with the editor of the magazine "Atlantic" Jeffrey Goldberg, in a session that dealt with the two-year anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords as part of the security conference of the ASPEN Institute in the USA.
During the interview, Defense Minister Gantz said: "The Abraham Accords make it possible to expand ties with the countries of the region also in security matters, and to create what we call - regional architecture. This fits in with Israel's transition to CENTCOM, and these days a strategic umbrella is also being established to coordinate with the countries of the Middle East and maintain security. Since the agreements, there have been hundreds of talks and meetings between the parties, and I can tell you that Israel has taken part in at least 10 multinational exercises together with the countries of the region."
The Minister of Defense also said: "Iran is a threat to the world and you can see it everywhere on the globe - in Venezuela, Algeria, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen. The Saudis and the Emirates are also suffering from Iran's aggression. The countries in the Middle East understand that Israel can be an asset , and the good relations with the United States can be a bridge. We do not threaten the Gulf countries - the Iranians do. We see the activity of Iran's emissaries everywhere without a nuclear umbrella - think what would happen if they had this umbrella. Therefore, we must not get to this situation."
On the Palestinian issue, he said: "I think the Abraham Accords can today help strengthen the Palestinian Authority, and build a reality of separation and two entities. I see it as a Zionist matter and Israel must be a safe, democratic and Jewish state."
