A divided Supreme Court on Thursday refused to block a lower court ruling that prevents the Biden administration from imposing new deportation priorities for immigrants who enter the United States without documents or are already living here illegally.
Instead, the highest court assured that it will review the matter in early December.

Judges Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Amy Coney Barrett and Ketanji Brown Jackson would have agreed to the Government's request to modify their deportation priorities.
This was Jackson's first vote in a Supreme Court case.
The court rejected an emergency request by the Justice Department to suspend a federal judge's order in Texas that had prevented the Department of Homeland Security from prioritizing the deportation of undocumented immigrants deemed a threat to public safety.
