Hezbollah was responsible for two acts of terrorism against Jews and Israelis in Buenos Aires in the 1990s - this was published today (Friday) in the New York Times.

A secret Hezbollah unit killed several people in attacks, without the assistance of Argentine or Iranian citizens - contrary to the popular assumption, an investigation by the Mossad shows.

The Mossad's internal investigation provides a detailed description of how the operations were planned - including how explosives were smuggled into Argentina in shampoo bottles and chocolate boxes.

The Mossad emphasizes that Israeli intelligence still believes that Iran approved and financed the attacks and even trained the forces and provided them with equipment - but the findings are contrary to this.

In the first attack in 1992, in which 29 people were killed, the Israeli embassy was bombed.

In the second, in 1994, 86 people were killed at the headquarters of the Jewish Community Center.

According to the report, the bombings were carried out as Hezbollah's revenge for the Israeli actions against the Shiite militia in Lebanon.

The report elaborates that Hezbollah operatives used a secret infrastructure built over years in Buenos Aires and other places in South America to plan the attacks.
