Opinion Unnecessary parties: let Meretz, the Jewish Home and religious Zionism return to the Creator Israel today

2022-07-22T04:53:25.706Z

If Meretz were a tangible asset, they would declare it a building to be demolished; If she had been an adult, he would have pleaded for euthanasia • My father wrote after the vote on the peace agreement with Egypt: "In the Knesset they vote to drive their voters out of the house, in Bnei Akiva they organize the transportation to the demonstrations"

Yossi and Shulamit's penthouse stood deserted. Every time this season they advertise it, and it's hard to deny that the glory days of the neighborhood have passed, and especially of this building. What the landlords didn't do: renovate the foundations, cosmeticize the walls, even hired a communications consultant imbued with a sense of mission which rebrands the contracting project. When you think about it, the neighbors were also replaced. But what to do when the tenant runs away time and time again?

Nitzan, and Tamar, and Issawi, and Chaim, and even Ran, and who remembers Yossi B. who even came from another neighborhood.

At first it was the heirs who were responsible for renting the property, and insisted on a short-term contract.

Today it is clear that the tenant also feels that something is wrong here.

The municipality threatens with a demolition order every time, and even though at the last minute contacts in the municipality save this building - it is clear what the direction is.

The ads on the street turn yellow, the ads in "Yad 2" don't click.

Messiah does not come, Messiah does not call either.

True, at the moment there is a discharged soldier who is excited to come live, and suddenly a pensioner named Zahava remembered with nostalgia that magical apartment, which brought quite a bit of joy and made her feel young again.

But you know how it is, in the end one of them will move in - if he finds someone to sign the contract for him - and the roof will drip along with all the memories, the floor will feel crooked to him, and he will look for the door out.

When the value of an asset drops so low, or of a party, say Meretz's, and no one really wants to lead it, it may already be redundant.

How does a party feel when time and time again it is announced that it is on the verge of blocking?

After all, if Meretz was a tangible asset, they would have declared it a building to be demolished;

If Meretz was an adult - he would beg for euthanasia.

"Just don't vote for me," he would whisper when he arrived at the ER, "don't forcefully breathe on me."

Longing for warm hugs.

Such instability is hard to survive.

Rooted left-wing families are used to splitting votes - some make sure that the Labor Party does not collapse, and some maintain that Meretz will last, but even there they will someday say "Khalas".

Let the soul of this dead body return to the one who rolled it into the world.

Sometimes roles end.

Ymina's leftover pie

Like a broken mirror image, on the other side of the political map a fluttering body known as the "Jewish House" has been resurrected.

Who would have believed that this stilt corpse still remembers its name?

Like a soap opera relegated to a niche channel, this series suddenly broke into consciousness with the 6,785th episode, like "The Brave and the Bold" was 20 years after Ridge and Caroline no longer exist.

Here, too, the characters are unfamiliar.

Zebulon Orlev sounds attractive and glamorous in front of the mayor of Givat Shmuel who is trying to join forces with Ayelet Shaked, Yoaz Handel, Matan Kahana and Zvika Hauser.

Did I forget someone?

Hagit Moshe is still looking for a sublet, or is it another channel?

There is no mitzvah from the Torah to have a national religious party.

The Israel Defense Forces, which was established in 1956, prospered beforehand and maintained constant strength in the Knesset. It took care of the knitted kippah sector and its many affiliates, and in the 1970s its approach to Gush Emunim also gave it a boost. Just like the Jewish Home, which after being taken over by young people imbued with ideology, reached 12 mandates.

This was the strength of the party on the eve of the Camp David Accords, a number that has not been restored, because on this fault line its members voted in a way that contradicted the will of their many voters: only three of the 12 members of the Knesset opposed the displacement plan from the Sinai Peninsula.

Sounds crazy, right?

In his weekly column in the Ma'ariv newspaper, my father wrote after the historic vote on the peace agreement with Egypt, in September 1978: "This is the method of the Israel Defense Forces: in the Knesset they vote to drive their voters out of the house, in Bnei Akiva they organize transportation to counter-demonstrations ".

In the elections after the implementation of Camp David, fragments of parties split off from the MDF: Madzad and Tahiya and TAMI and Morsha. The MDF tottered on the border of the three mandates, until the savior Naftali Bennett arrived and turned it into the Jewish home.

From a historical point of view, the end of the Jewish Home, which became a right-wing party, is similar to the end of the MFD: ideological stuttering gives rise to political death. The artificial attempt to rise up from the residual ruins of good will adds sin to the crime, because who will believe the refugees of the change government who have an ideological platform and not Empty schedule?

The resulting hoarding on the ruins of the various incarnations of the Food and Drug Administration is more like a pie of leftovers, and those who are familiar with the habits of the sector know that even kosher food consumers no longer compromise on the raw materials.

We haven't seen straw yet

When Smotrich and Co. founded the religious Zionist party, it seemed ridiculous: who calls himself after the sector?

It sounds like a user name in an advice forum: "The Original Religious Zionism"

But after the last year, the desperation became more comfortable.

It is not certain that there is room between the Likud and religious Zionism for another sub-faction to debate which is more - Jewish, Israeli or wants jobs.

If you analyze the ups and downs of the religious-nationalist party in the last 45 years, you find that the socio-political melting pot has migrated to other regions, or as the dreamer put it: the experiment failed.

For many years, the far-right parties looked at the parties to the right of them, and warned against voting for those who waver on the percentage of the block.

Desperate battles between the MPDL and the National Union, between Effi Itam and Michal Ben Ari, between Bennett and Gabir, with the moderate always warning that the extremist endangers the entire bloc, and those who vote for him throw the ballot in the trash.

This time it may be the other way around: if the Remain party is formed, the far-right party may look at it condescendingly, and warn the public against voting for a party that scrapes the percentage of approval.

It is interesting whether this time on the eve of Yom, Netanyahu will drink the mandates of Ben Gabir back to the Likud, as he once drank the votes of the Jewish Home - or flow with the process safely.
