Four fires that broke out in the vicinity of the British capital, London, destroyed dozens of hectares of forest due to rising temperatures.
"Four fires broke out in the areas of Enfield, Hayes, Surrey and Tamazmid due to high temperatures and winds, which resulted in the destruction of tens of hectares of forests and bushes and the closure of a number of roads," the London Fire Department was quoted by AFP as saying on its Twitter account today. Hundreds of firefighting personnel were mobilized and equipped with the necessary mechanisms to put out the fires.
These fires come days after the United Kingdom recorded a record temperature of 40.3 degrees Celsius in Koningsby.
