Differentiated traffic, which had been in place for almost a week in Marseille in the face of ozone pollution, ends Sunday evening thanks to a planned improvement in air quality, announced the prefecture of Bouches- of the Rhone.
This decision was taken “
in view of the improvement in air quality
” with the end of the level 2 red alert for ozone pollution announced for Monday, detailed the prefecture in a press release.
Despite the heat wave alert which has been extended over a large southeast quarter until at least Tuesday morning, clouds on Monday afternoon associated with "
a change in temperatures
" should make it possible to "
slightly reduce the photochemistry
" according to AtmoSud, air quality monitoring agency.
Ozone is a gaseous pollutant resulting from the chemical transformation of other pollutants in the ambient air, under the effect of solar radiation.
During this period of differentiated traffic, only light vehicles with a Crit'Air sticker from 0 to 3 were technically authorized to circulate in the center of the second city of France.
