Somali security forces on Saturday ended the occupation by Shebab jihadists of a hotel in the capital Mogadishu which lasted around 30 hours, a senior Somali officer said around midnight.

Security forces have now ended the siege and the gunmen are dead, we have not had any shots fired from the building in the past hour
," the official said on condition of anonymity.

He gave no information on the total number of victims of the Hayat hotel attack, nor on the number of Al-Shabaab fighters who were killed, adding that the government would speak to the press about the bloody attack. Sunday morning.
The establishment was destroyed by a bombardment by the security forces aimed at eliminating the attackers who had entrenched themselves there, but the official stressed that it must now be cleared of all the explosives which could have been placed there.
