Ukraine celebrates the country's Independence Day this Wednesday, an event that coincides with the six months since Russia began the invasion of the neighboring town.
On the occasion of this double anniversary, Spain has wanted to reinforce its support for Ukraine and has announced the shipment of more defensive material, as EL PAÍS reported.
“This is a firm commitment that has been developing since the beginning of this war.
In all this time, our country has not stopped sending material for the legitimate defense of the Ukrainian people," Defense said in a statement.
Among the material sent by Defense, some twenty armored vehicles, 75 pallets of field artillery and a complete anti-aircraft defense battery stand out, in addition to 1,000 tons of diesel worth approximately two and a half million euros.
Both the armored vehicles and the ammunition are already at the disposal of the Ukrainian authorities.
In addition to the weapons, "in response to an urgent request" the shipment of 30,000 cold campaign uniforms, 15,600 jackets, 15,000 outdoor suits and several thousand complementary garments has been prepared.
The shipment of pending cargo, distributed in 1,600 pallets, is scheduled for September.
Pohoreltsev, however, has indicated that what interests them most is the supply of 155-millimeter and 122-millimeter howitzers and mortars, respectively, as he has already notified the Spanish Government.
"The process is not simple, but we are working and we are very grateful," he reiterated.
