New York-Sana

The United Nations Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wencesland, expressed his concern over the Israeli occupation authorities' announcement of closing six Palestinian schools in the occupied city of Jerusalem, affecting more than 2,000 students, calling for the implementation of relevant international resolutions to end the occupation and stop settlements.

In a briefing to the Security Council, according to the Palestinian Wafa Agency, Wencesland indicated that the Israeli occupation is escalating its settlement plans in the occupied Palestinian territories, along with demolitions, evictions and forced displacement, which undermines the chances of establishing a Palestinian state, and pointed out that all settlements are illegal under international law.

Wenceland explained that the occupation authorities demolished or seized 78 Palestinian buildings in the occupied city of Jerusalem during the past month, which led to the displacement of about 103 Palestinians, including 50 children, calling for a halt to demolishing Palestinian homes and preventing their forced displacement.
