German vacationer crashes from ship in Mallorca and dies

A German fell from a pleasure boat in Mallorca on Thursday, but his absence was apparently only noticed when he returned to port.
The man was already dead by then.
A German is believed to have died on the holiday island of Mallorca in Spain after falling from a pleasure boat.
The man's body was recovered in the Bay of Palma, reported the German Press Agency (dpa) on Friday, citing Mallorcan media.
The accident happened on Thursday.
The authorities confirmed this information on request.
The cause of death has yet to be determined, it said.
Mallorca: Man falls from the ship, but nobody notices?
The man had taken part in an excursion on the "Magic" catamaran on Thursday and probably fell overboard off the coast of the municipality of Llucmajor, the dpa reported.
However, the absence of the passenger was only noticed after the ship had returned to the port of Palma.

As a result, rescue workers from the fire brigade and the police immediately started a search.
The lifeless body was later found floating in the water not far from Cap Enderrocat and recovered with the help of a helicopter.
The regional
newspaper Diario de Mallorca
reported on Friday evening about the same events, but with some different details.
Accordingly, the man went swimming at Cap Enderrocat and allegedly suffered a heart attack.
After just a few strokes, his body was drifting in the sea and out of sight of the boat.
As a result, the emergency services were called immediately.
Emergency services and a helicopter immediately searched for the man.
When his body was found floating in the sea off Cap Enderrocat, a crew member on the catamaran apparently began resuscitation efforts, which were unsuccessful, according to
Diario de Mallorca
further.
The sea rescue helicopter carried away the man's body.
Police are currently investigating the cause of death, but all evidence points to a natural death.

While
Diario de Mallorca
puts the victim's age at 75 years, the German press agency speaks of an age of 73 years.
However, both the time of the accident and the place of the accident are identical.
It was initially unclear where the man came from Germany and whether he was a tourist in Mallorca or lived on the island, the dpa said.
Diario de Mallorca
reported on Friday evening that the man had boarded with his wife and grandchildren.
