Six-year-old Rottweiler Banjo had been waiting for a new family for over a year.

Now he has found a new home, the owners report on a Facebook page.

Nuremberg – "Banjo will give up soon": With these words, the Nuremberg animal shelter published an emotional appeal a few months ago, in which it was looking for new owners for the Rottweiler Banjo.

The four-legged friend has been waiting for a new home in the shelter for over a year, and since August 16 he has officially been part of a new family.

The new owners have created a Facebook page, Rotti Banjo, where they share their progress with the dog and photos from their everyday lives.

Rottweiler Banjo finds a new family in Fürth after a long wait – "Everyone thought I was crazy"

When the 51-year-old saw the animal shelter's call, it was about her.

"I said to myself: I'll get you out of there," she describes the moment on Facebook.

"Everyone said I was crazy." Except for her husband, who knows her well enough.

The two describe themselves as “Rotti-crazy”, in the family there are already two other dogs, a nine-year-old Rottweiler and a nine-year-old Beauceron-Doberman mix.

But Banjo got along well with his new siblings.

The Rottweiler first lived with the couple in Fürth for a trial period of six weeks, the two trained a lot with him and gradually reported their first successes.

Little by little, they were able to break his envy of food and the problematic defense of resources.

"All in all, he's a cuddly bollhead," is the conclusion after a few weeks of trial living.

Many dogs are still waiting for a new home at the shelter

Then, on August 16th, the good news: "The time had just come ... Banjo is now officially part of the family".

Not only was there a happy ending for Banjo, “fighting dog” Pablo also found a new family in Switzerland.

Others are not so lucky, for example the bulldog Kimberly, who was freed from a bad attitude, is hoping for a new home in the Nuremberg animal shelter.

Likewise the handicapped dog Goofy, with all its rough edges and the Doberman Tyson.
