Once again, the former President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has made himself the most zealous spokesperson for Vladimir Putin.
Formerly known for rather liberal positions, Dmitry Medvedev has become a real Kremlin hawk, fervently defending the “
special operation
” launched more than six months ago in Ukraine.
Asked Friday by videoconference on LCI, the Russian official assured that his country was doing “
everything possible to avoid a Third World War
”.
In what way ?
By preventing Ukraine from joining NATO.
"
The special operation aims to protect the vital interests of Russia, already threatened
," he continued, accusing the West of refusing dialogue with Russia.

Faced with the deadly toll of the Russian invasion after six months of war, Dmitry Medvedev denied any responsibility.
“
I serve my country.
I don't care about penalties.
I'm sure President Putin shares the same position, we are Russian citizens.
Questioned by Darius Rochebin on the fact that dictators such as Saddam Hussein, Slobodan Milošević or Muammar Gaddafi had systematically lost against Western democracies, the former Russian president considered that his government was not threatened in the same way and that the comparison was "
doubtful
".
According to him, “
liberal democracy is not the end point of the development of humanity
”.
And to add:
Russia will therefore have all its capabilities to defend itself.

Dmitry Medvedev does not stop there.
He accuses the West of playing "
an active part in the war
", in particular by delivering weapons and training the Ukrainian military to use them.

They are waging a proxy war
,” he asserted, while swearing “
never to have refused to deliver gas to Europe
”.
As Europe prepares to face gas cuts linked to sanctions against Russia, the former President accuses him of “
blindly following American policy
”.
