Was Mikhail Gorbachev the Hermann Müller of the Soviet Union?

Both recorded a defeat, the other a failure whose reality their countries finally refused to recognize.

Like a majority of Germans in the post-14-18 era, Russians today consider that it is not the fault of Russian society if the Soviet federation was dismantled, but the fault of a small group of traitors.

Gorbachev being the first of them.

Continuing the analogy: Russia in the 1990s had its Weimar period with Boris Yeltsin.

Then there was the takeover with Vladimir Putin.

And here we are in 2022.
