Kadoorie Farm recently received a Burmese python with a length of 4.89 meters, which is the longest python ever recorded in Hong Kong. The park said that after recording and chipping the python, it was released in the wild in Sai Kung and returned to nature.
The park continued to point out that despite their huge size, pythons coexist peacefully with Hong Kong citizens and accidents are rare.

Kadoorie Farm and Botanical Garden stated that the record-breaking female Burmese python (Python bivittatus) was sent from Saigon to Kadoorie Farm and Botanical Garden on August 26, 2022.
According to the park, it is 4.89 meters long and weighs 32 kilograms. It is the longest python it has received and recorded since the park and the Agriculture and Fisheries Department started the Burmese python conservation program in January 2011.
The female's skin was noticeably sagging, indicating that she had recently lost weight, presumably caused by laying eggs just before her capture.
After the garden has recorded and chipped it, it is convenient to bring it back to the same area on the same day, away from the place where it was found.
The previous record for the longest python also came from Saigon and was sent to the Wildlife Rescue Centre at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden in July 2020.
The park continued to point out that the Burmese python is a legally protected native species in Hong Kong, an important part of the local ecosystem, and the only remaining top predator in Hong Kong.
Despite their huge size, they coexist peacefully with Hong Kong citizens with few accidents.
They contribute to the control of rodents such as rodents and wild boars.
In addition, the park has found that pythons have been mistaken for pets as wild animals in the past. It is recommended that pet owners who have doubts about pet safety, such as living in the suburbs or bringing their pets to the suburbs, can properly take care of or control their pets.
