Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stressed that the European Union's decision to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia will not remain without consequences, indicating that Moscow will take retaliatory measures in response.
"Violation, fraud, or the withdrawal of the European Union from the visa facilitation agreement with Russia will not remain without consequences," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Grushko as saying. "We ourselves will decide whether the measures will be the same, not the same, or otherwise, which the European Union does not expect."
The European Union's foreign policy commissioner, Josep Borrell, announced earlier that the bloc's countries had reached a political agreement to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia, but that certain categories of Russian citizens would still be able to obtain EU visas.
