Gérald Darmanin defended Wednesday August 31 his reform of the judicial police which arouses the revolt of the police officers of the PJ and magistrates, but however opened the way for amendments.
"
We will amend what needs to be amended, but the police cannot be the only place where we do not reform

For him, this " very important
" reform
is necessary because if "
we have magnificent judicial police officers, today, the investigation means fewer cases are resolved
".
The reform project plans to place all police services at the department level - intelligence, public security, border police (PAF) and judicial police (PJ) - under the authority of a single Departmental Director of Police national (DDPN), dependent on the prefect.
Currently, each service is accountable to its hierarchy.
Judicial police investigators are thus under the authority of the Central Director of the Judicial Police (DCPJ).
The government wants to integrate them into an investigation sector, with public security investigators in charge of everyday crime.
