The activities of the Mountain Festival kicked off today at the Rural Development Center in the village of Al-Tun Al-Jard in the countryside of Baniyas, with the participation of 24 participants who presented various works between crochet, foodstuffs, detergents, recycling, sweets, school supplies and food supplies.

The Director of Social Affairs and Labor in Tartous, Walad Jalab, said in a statement to SANA reporter that based on the role of social affairs to secure and serve the civil society, the Jabal Festival was opened today, which is the fruit of joint work between the affairs and the Syrian Association for Development with the support of the High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Director of the Rural Development Center in Al-Tun Al-Jard, Engineer Shadi Houriya, explained that the festival is a support for the region and its residents, and a gateway to presenting and introducing local products to women from several villages, in addition to displaying the center’s products, including hand-made carpets, a sewing workshop, and school aprons, at competitive prices of up to 40 percent.

The festival’s coordinator and participation in sweets products, Emtithal Abbas, indicated that the festival is a continuation of several activities launched under the coordination of the community nucleus team trained by the Syrian Society for Social Development, stressing the importance of the role of rural women in overcoming life’s difficulties and their ability to produce and enter the labor market and to shed light on the artworks of rural villages. Baniyas.

The coordinator of the Altun Center Razan Muhammad explained that based on the role of the Syrian Development Association to activate the role of the community and its participation in planning and implementation, several initiatives were launched from the local community through the association’s programs and in coordination with the Adult Education Authority for professional courses for women, as it is the nucleus of the community and its products are small projects for local community women.

And Ali Mahmoud, the supervisor of the outlets selling Syrian trade halls in the city of Baniyas, indicated that their participation today includes all kinds of stationery and school uniforms, with discounts of up to 25 percent, in addition to food supplies and canned goods at discounted prices from the market.

Asmaa Abbas, a participant in crochet and woolen "tiaras, dresses and bows", pointed out from her work with thread and hook that the festival is an initiative to introduce people to her work because it collects many handicrafts and opens a broader horizon for her through her participation.

Baraa Al-Ali, who is participating in the festival for the first time through her work in wool, embroidery and drawing, pointed to the importance of the festival because it is known to people and her work and a good start for developing her ideas and improving the quality of her work by getting to know the products of the participants.

Maysam Hamama, participating in the festival for the first time, with works made of wood, home decorations and canvas paintings, demonstrated the importance of the festival by displaying its products and introducing people to them, as it opens up a new job market for them.

During the festival, the top students in basic and secondary education certificates from several villages were honored.

It is noteworthy that the festival was held under the supervision of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in Tartous and the Syrian Society for Social Development and the local community, with the participation of the Syrian Trade, and continues for tomorrow.
