The RKI reports a decline in many corona parameters that are important for assessing the pandemic.
But the health risk remains high.
Berlin - In its latest Corona situation report, the Robert Koch Institute presented almost exclusively falling numbers for important parameters.
The nationwide 7-day incidence has fallen by almost 14 percent compared to the previous week, the RKI wrote in its weekly Covid 19 status report on Thursday evening.
Shortly before, the EMA had approved the Omicron vaccine from Moderna and Biontech.
Corona situation report of the RKI: 7-day incidence in almost all federal states and age groups declining
"The 7-day incidence values fell compared to the previous week in almost all federal states and age groups." The decrease was strongest in people over 80 years of age.
Only among schoolchildren has there been a “slight increase” in the past two weeks.
The number of severe coronavirus cases in Germany is also declining.
The hospitalization rate fell to 2.3 from 2.6 in the previous week.
This corresponds to 1900 new admissions to hospitals.
The number of patients cared for in intensive care units also fell.
The Divi intensive care register registered 796 cases on August 31 - 106 fewer than in the previous week.
The number of deaths has also fallen significantly.
Robert Koch Institute: The current wave has peaked, even with severe corona courses
Based on this data, the RKI states “that the current wave has peaked even in the case of severe illnesses.” Nevertheless, people over the age of 80 are still most severely affected by severe corona courses.
In this age group, the situation is improving “slower than with the overall figures”.
Despite the declining numbers, the Robert Koch Institute points out that the corona infection pressure is still high in all age groups.
The risk to health from Covid-19 is also classified as high in Germany.
Because the federal government is expecting a new wave in autumn,
stricter corona rules will apply again from October
