46 people were killed today (Monday) in a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in China.
The earthquake, which hit Sichuan province in the west of the country, is the most powerful to hit the area since 2017.
Several roads and houses near the epicenter were damaged by rockfalls, and communication cables fell in at least one place in the area, the country's state television reported.
Laura Lu, a resident of the city of Chengdu, which has a population of about 21 million, was on her way home when she saw people fleeing their homes in panic after receiving an earthquake warning on their phones.
"There were people who were so frightened that they started crying," she testified.
"All the dogs started barking, it was really scary."
