The president of the Andalusian PP and the Andalusian Government, Juan Manuel Moreno, has accepted the resignation of Loles López to continue as general secretary of the party to dedicate herself fully to her position as counselor for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality.

The change comes as no surprise.

Moreno already had it in his head since the regional congress held last November, although then he ignored the voices that asked for a dry change from the one who has been his loyal squire for eight years.

In that conclave, the Andalusian leader appointed Antonio Repullo from Cordoba as regional coordinator, who will be the new secretary general.

Moreno has assured this Monday at the meeting of the national board of directors, the highest decision-making body between congresses, that it has been López who has asked him to leave the organic position because he understands that his priority should be work in the ministry.

"I was not excited or sympathetic to the resignation, but I understood the reasons," said the Andalusian president, who wanted to make it clear that the resignation is not due to his wish.

Moreno did not know López, a leader signed at the time by Javier Arenas, when Mariano Rajoy elected him party leader in 2014 and he appointed her general secretary.

But both have worked side by side in these years "of many difficulties, with very complicated adverse circumstances".

Few believed then that four years later, the Andalusian PP would manage to cut a long journey through the desert in the opposition in Andalusia that lasted almost 37 years by achieving autonomous government by adding support with Ciudadanos and Vox.

Since June 19, the date of the regional elections, Moreno has governed with an absolute majority.

To this change in the regional leadership are added those announced in the PP of Malaga, also due to the resignation of the party's national coordinator, Elías Bendodo, to continue as head of the provincial presidency, and in that of Seville.

In this organization, Moreno has forced an extraordinary congress to provoke the departure of the provincial president, Virginia Pérez.

She this she was elected with 93% of the votes in a convulsive congress held in March 2021, against the candidate endorsed by the Andalusian president.

Pérez was aligned with the then national leadership led by Pablo Casado and Teodoro García Egea, who promoted related provincial leaderships without counting on the opinion of the regional barons and in order to guarantee continuity in the party frustrated by the pulse of Madrid's Isabel Diaz Ayuso.

Moreno has announced in the board of directors that next Thursday he has summoned the spokesmen of the parliamentary groups in the San Telmo palace to "share" proposals on inflation and drought.

He will start the round with socialist Juan Espadas, leader of the main opposition group.

The Andalusian president has once again shown his concern about "economic uncertainty" and the drought.

"If urgent works are not carried out, we are going to have to cut off the water to the industrial, agricultural and livestock sectors," he warned.

Among the infrastructures that he considers to be priorities, he has mentioned the Rules dam (Granada), an immense cistern without pipes to channel the stored water, and the works that, according to the PP, would allow the expansion of irrigation in the area of Doñana, when the park national is dry.

"I do not want competition battles, but commitments", said the Andalusian president, anticipating the reproach directed by the Andalusian PSOE for lack of action in matters over which it has exclusive jurisdiction.

Less timer than Moreno has been the national coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendondo, who has predicted that in tomorrow's debate in the Senate between the president, Pedro Sánchez, and the leader of the PP, Núñez Feijóo, two models will be seen: " one that creates problems and another, solutions”.
