Russian President Vladimir Putin endorsed the concept of the Russian Federation's humanitarian policy abroad after signing a document that will enter into force from today.
According to the document, which was reported by the Russian Interfax Agency, Russia's national interests in the humanitarian sphere abroad mean the protection of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values and the acquaintance of the world community with the historical and cultural heritage and achievements of the multinational people of the Russian Federation, as well as the mutual enrichment of the cultures of the peoples of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, including increasing Access to the Russian and world cultural heritage and the development of international humanitarian cooperation on a fair, reciprocal, open and non-discriminatory basis.
The document indicated that the priority task is to deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of culture, science, education, youth policy, sports and tourism with countries in the post-Soviet space, especially with member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States such as the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of South Ossetia, the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic.
The document stressed the need to take active action in order to curb the attempts of a number of countries to rewrite the history of the Second World War to diminish the role of the Soviet people in the great victory, noting that the development of human and cultural relations with the Baltic states, as well as with Moldova and Georgia should take into account the rights of the speaking population Russian in these countries.
